This came off a farm in the middle of nowhere. It looked like rusty gold to me. However, although I have been a barn picker for 30 years, I have no idea what it actually is. It is made to hang from the metal bale, either upright or inverted. It has a brass or copper screw on cap that has a spring valve(similar to a auto thermostat). Thanks in advance for any information you might provide.

Is the valve made so that when you push on the tip it opens? If so, I vote with ROBin--.
Where there any kerosene lamps around there?
Yes, given the first reply, I found kerosene reservoir on eBay and that is exactly a correct ID. Thanks so much. BTW, I was skeptical of his reply being from Hawaii. Lol. Thanks again!
ROBin--, doesn't snow where I am either! Only white stuff I want to see around my feet is sand, warm sand.
Where did neige come into this conversation?
And I thought selling snowsuits in Hawaii would rival selling Bermuda shorts at the North Pole...lol. Learned more than I bargained for.
You know I'm just joking with yo ROBin. That pic almost looks as good as here but I don't know how to send you a pic on this site yet. Give me a hint as it is early where you are. I'm very new at pc's other than email & work.
