I would like to know more about this box. It is about five by seven inches. It appears to be an opium bottle box. The brass is really bronze and were it was not polished with jewelers rouge it shows a very old bronze Patina, and under the loop you can clearly seethe red rouge.
The hinges are entirely hand made. I think it is made of tortoise shell.
Any help would be appreciated.
