This is a Thomas Webb Bullseye pattern vase from the Gay Series of glass from the 1930s.

This is one of the more common shapes you see from the Gay Series of glass, and is suppose that is because it is a practical shape. The conical vases look good and look very period, but are really not good for putting flowers in as they splay out in all directions.

I have sort of mixed feelings about Webb... I find that a few series (bronze glass -http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/55879-thomas-webb-and-sons-bronze-vase-circa- or Iris glass -http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/56172-webbs-iris-glass-) are amazing whereas most of the rest of their production was... "sort of awful". I am glad the Gay series -and specially yours, which is amazing) meant a return to good design ;)

I like the simplicity of the pre-war Whitefriars glass vases, with low to no cutting, no fancy chemistry tricks. It's all about simple design effects and good shapes, the Webb Gay series glass goes with that ethos, which is why I like them.
