I bought his vase at a local estate sale. It has vaired shades of brown along with an indented pattern around the mid-section of the vase. The mark on the bottom is either an animal or "pi" within a hexagon.

Might anyone recognize the mark and/or style? Thanks!

Maryh1956, thanks for your comment. I apologize for the photo quality. I don't have a working camera, using an iPhone instead. I'll post another pic and hand drawing of the mark. I hope it helps. And, I really appreciate your help!

This is my first pic/post, so I definitely need to work on picture resolution and positioning. Thanks for the empathy.

Can you see the new pic and sketch of the mark? Are they easier to view? Thanks for your continued search.

I can see it clearly in your drawing, but haven't found anything like it yet, but not giving up. Could be Asian, or stylized initials joined together too, so still working on it. I love a mystery!

Hi, I have just had a look at that mark. It is a Japanese Hiragana character. Your third photo has it in the correct position. The second photo should be moved 90 degrees to the left.
      The wikipedia reference is:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/?

      "Yo" is the character.

      Vetraio50,
My apologies for the late reply. I can't thank you enough for your help! Once I figure out the maker, I'll pass along the info if you care. I hope I can return the favor one day.

That looks so familiar, like I've seen it in a marks book. Maybe in Lehner's US pottery marks.....I'll check.
