The owner threw these in with the coral i purchased yesterday. Both the claw and the tooth seem very large to me. i had a scary close-up encounter w/ a large black bear two years ago, but his teeth and claws weren't this big!
the summer before last, i went camping in the sierra w/ a friend who had never been camping before. we found a dirt road which was open to the public and drove till late way up into the mtns. we set up my large air mattress in the open back of the pickup and put the coolers on the ground next to the tailgate. i went right to sleep. my friend woke me up a couple hrs later saying 'OSO!!' i lifted up my head and could hear something right at the back of the truck and i put my headlamp on and shouted loudly. this enormous bear jumped up and was towering over us. i chucked my boot at it's head and it turned around and took off. we jumped out of the truck, pulling on our boots and chased after it - hurling rocks at it. then we returned to the truck and closed the cooler which it had opened and stuck it inside the truck. it had only bitten into one peach - and hadn't gotten to anything else yet. we calculated the bear must have been around 7 ft tall when standing up. i went back to sleep, but my friend didn't. he woke me up 20 minutes later. the bear had returned and he wasn't scared of us at all. we threw rocks at it, but it only ran about 20 ft before stopping and stalking us again. we got out of there very quickly. my brave little chihuahua never even stuck it's head out from under the blankets!
no problem. the only connection between the items and the story are that they are both about a bear. it's not as if i extracted them from a living bear myself! but i do enjoy writing about my life experiences more than speaking them.
