I too purchased these two chairs about 10 years ago. There are no marking on either chairs. There are no nails just screws holding the chairs together. Any information would be great.

Generally, I consider furniture made with screws as newer. Where & who made furniture but I generally guess from experience as screws after maybe 1920-30's. Screws were expensive & not easily available in their early years. Pegs & home made hide glue were cheap & always available. For instance, a joint where a spindle is inserted into a hole: the hole would have a reverse cone taper & the spindle would have a slot with a wedge in it. As the spindle bottoms out, the wedge spreads the wood so that it is locked in place. Spindle loosens, you knock it in more & the wedge tightens it more. Of course that type of joint cannot be simply pulled out to apply glue.
Ah, an answer! We don't know. Actually, any older furniture maker could make as good of a guess. If not obvious before, the screws can give period but of course we can't study them by pics.. My guess is after 1950's.
