1940 Large Oriental Cork Carving in Glass Case. I purchased this at a Garage Sale for $20.00. It is all hand carved out of cork. Label underneath dates from 1940s. Very detailed work, houses, trees and done with a small piano string sized carving tool. Birds are made from carved shell. About a foot square cabinet with all sides glass. Love it!

I have one of these from a couple years ago from Japan. They still are making them in China, but I think this one has more detail. A nice piece!
The new ones are made by machine so you can't get the detail like the older ones. This has a Label on bottom and the company was in prodiution in the 20's-40's. The ones I see today are small and thin, don't see very many as large as this one. Dave

Mine is in the same sized case but not to the degree of detail as yours. I'm sure the glass on this one is most likely thicker as well. A great find for a garage sale!
