About Vintage Surfboards

Although surfboards have been around for hundreds of years as simple wooden planks, things really got serious in the mid 1900s as form met function in the era of modern materials. Designers like Blake, Simmons, Quigg, Hobie, Velzy, Noll, Bing, Weber, Gordon & Smith and others are well known among vintage surfing aficionados.

From the balsa boards of the 1940s and 50s to the floral and paisley boards of the 60s and the airbrushed creations of the 70s, there's no shortage of interesting designs out there. Not to mention related memorabilia and ephemera like surfing ceramics, clothing, and surf movie posters.
