Some years ago, my husband purchased a house to flip. We became the owners of everything in the house! Included in that was boxes and boxes, bins and bins, garage full and shed full of VINTAGE MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTONS!! These buttons were manufactured between the 20s-40s starting in Muscatine, Iowa--"the Mother of pearl Button Capital of the World". Paul Zurgis was one of the first to pan and manufacture shells into buttons. He then moved to New York to pan for ocean shells. In the 60s he closed his factory and his entire inventory ended up in this house that my husband purchased. Now I have a zillion natural beauties of the sea sitting in MY garage. Too bad I don't sew nor am I crafty and creative. (Read more)
