has a mate that is red and white
thick, wool antique - has been in the family for years
any info that can identify period or blanket type would be most helpful

The first name that pops into my mind when anyone says wool blanket is Pendleton. It's a starting point ;)

I'd call it a coverlet-- some are weaver signed (some dated as well) in a corner.
