This Royal Navy peak cap belonged to an officer who joined the senior service at the age of 18 as a Cadet, rising to the rank of Acting Captain.
During his 32 year colourful career he served on-board such iconic vessels as HMS Rodney, HMS Royal Oak, HMS Revenge and HMS Indomitable, as well as many others. He was Mentioned in Dispatches (MID) in 1943 and was awarded an OBE postwar.
This cap dates to mid 1944 and was worn by the ranks of Cdr and Captain, and is typical of such wartime caps.
