I have no clue what this trunk's age is. Again, I had to remove the paper from inside it because of the stink. The inside was sanded down and varnished. The outside was painted, the lock removed and I put 2 pcs of wood covered in embossed paintable wall paper glued to thin slats of wood and attached to the trunk to cover up the holes, then it was painted the same color as the embossed metal. My daughter got this one. Would love to know any details about this trunk if anyone knows. It's large. I can't measure it now because I'm in CA and the trunk is in IN. My tape measure doesn't stretch that far and my daughter is too busy to measure it for me....hahahaha.

The top of the trunk is made with layered wood (plywood). As this was patented in 1882, your trunk is later than that. The over look, and the hardware put this one in the late 1890s to early 1900s.
      Good luck,
      Jim
