Eames Era Vase (maybe) with wood Mosaic

Here is another from of vast treasure trove of inherited items. I can't find a thing about this vase, which to me is a remarkable work of art. When you look closely at the detail, the wood is so meticulously applied. Maybe I am too close to this piece. It is remarkable by someone important, or is it just an interesting vase. Let me know if you need better images.

I forgot to add, it stands 13 1/2" at the highest point, it is 8" wide, it is 4" deep, and weighs 7 1/2 lbs.
