I'm posting this to see if anyone has an idea whose art piece this might be. The hallmark on the bottom is not really readable, but maybe it's a hallmark someone might recognize. I'm also enclosing a couple of pictures of the inside. It appears that the piece was perhaps dipped in the glazes. It resides in Southern California but that doesn't mean it was made there.

Thanks for that interesting comment. I did some exploring about this, and think you are right. I don't believe this is European, or even that old, but the lines do follow some of the art pottery pieces I found online. I just wish that hallmark was more distinct. I'm going to check with the owner of this piece (who got it from an estate) and see if she can give me a little more information about it.

It looks like a Belgian"Thulin" pottery vase.

I think you hit the nail on the head! I'm going to investigate. Thanks so much.

Sarahoff, on your pottery marked "Belgium" is it clearly stamped or painted on? Any way you could post a photo of that mark?

Most are stamped under the glaze. I have one that reminds me of yours if you have a chance to sort through some of my older posts.
