I found this at a thrift store for $25 and fell in love. I bought it and brought it home with me not even knowing if it worked.
It does! The light does too! The only things I can see missing from it is the bobbin cover and the extra feet - it only has a Zipper foot.
I don't know much about this machine, but am posting it here hoping that you do! I would love to know what year it is!
It was just love at first sight!

If you can find the serial number, you can find out about your machine on the Singer site:
      http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html
You can even download free copies of most Singer manuals. I think the green Singers are pretty collectible.

What you have is a 185 J Singer . They are nice little machines . The part you are missing is called the slide plate or bobbin cover plate . You can order them off the internet .

Thank you both so much for your feedback! I love my little machine, I am pretty excited to get it running!
It was quite a buy at $25!
