I think maybe General MacArthur stayed there during his time in wartime Brisbane?
Anyway, my Mother's father was a WW1 veteran who spent time recuperating in a German POW camp after being blown up in Belgium and after the war became the lift operator in the National bank building for the remainder of his working life.
