This item is about 4"x4" and 1" thick. It has a toothed wheel held in place by the screw bottom center. Another one I saw had "Letcher Southern" stamped on it although it was very faded, I think that is what it was.

Only thing I can figure is a pattern for a rail switching casting. You give 1 pic with no description or measurements. Not a hell of a lot for us to go on! I won't lose any sleep over it until I hear more info..Welcome to CW.

Sorry, it has been a rough day. What do you think it is? Was it in a foundry area? Looks like a pattern for a mold to me.

This is a block where a shuttle moves back and forth in a ribbon loom. Here is a link to a picture of the block and shuttle: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/266556871669586737/
It was used for weaving narrow strips or ribbon.

Thanks. I bought it at an antique store in Clovis NM. I sent it to my father in New Zealand as he collects old tools and stuff. I'll wait a few months to see if he can figure out what it is.
