My dad has a collection of items that I am trying to find out more information about. Please help. I did not really know where to go to find out more and this site seemed like I could find out the most info about all my dads items.

Looks like what most people would call a “Pin tray”, used for putting hairpins or small trinkets such as cufflinks when you remove them at the end of the day.
May also be an individual ash tray, but they usually have an indent on the rim.
If you can get a sharper image of the maker’s mark, and rotate it, I can help with that info

Gerold & Co, Tettau, Bavaria. The mark on your piece was use between 1937-60, but as yours does not say West Germany, it is probably pre WWII. I’m guessing it was a nice souvenir from a visit to Munich. I don’t speak German but believe the word on the back probably means “Hand decorated”
Here’s a link to a great resource for German pottery. You really need name to search on the website, but I managed to find it be searching the region/town and using the partial name on your mark
