Old old chairs!

I inherited these chairs from my grandparents and can't find any information/matching ones on the web. I think the tall ones (with the harp-looking back) are oak…? And the shorter backed ones are walnut…? Any ideas what they're called? The seats on the shorter ones need to be replaced, but I've been told that devalues them--true? Thanks in advance for your help!
