We inherited this wooden chair from an aunt who inherited it from her German grandfather. Her family brought it from Germany some time in the 19th century. I would love to know more about the history of this piece. The figure on the back is a dragon, and the chair has claw feet. It's been buried in my basement, but now we would like to display it. Can anyone recognize something that might help us?

We also have a secretary with an ornate frame from the same period, we think.

Think these were popular around 1890s. Called...roman chair? Emperor chair? Ooooffff, will have to look it up for you.

We just purchased a chair very similar to this at an auction two weeks ago! Search for AmyPolasek to see a picture!

Do you know any details about the chair you bought, Amy? Maybe that would give me a clue about mine!

Hi again! The auctioneer told us it was an antique but didn't have any other details. In looking on the internet, I think it may be a Stomps Burkhardt saddle chair. What do you think? If so, they're going for $495-$695 and we only paid $100 :)!!!
