Mt washington "Sample" shaker

Here is a "Sample" shaker in which there a two schools of thought on it. The first is that it may have been a Salesman Sample that was shown to perspective buyers. The second would be that it was a sample used in the factory as an example for decorators to paint blanks.
Which ever it is, I would consider this rather common shaker very rare simply because it is marked a sample!
