So simple and beaten up but still holds its beauty.
What a lovely find whilst rummaging through a box full of brass and metal objects at a market yesterday.It stands at 24 cms (9.5") and 52 cms (20.5 ") has some simple engravings and unfortunately has been bashed around. It reminded me of another little piece I have with similar metal, lacquer and lid fitting, so I had to buy it, took it home, gave it a wash and voila! It could be a "Japanese pewter double gourd Tea Caddy" and at a guess a working class utensil. Other than that I don't know anymore about it. I hope you like it. :)
Well found. I agree it is beautiful, more so because it shows use.
