      First published 1828, by S Converse, then by Harpers, and from the mid-1800s by Merriam, Still exists as the Merriam Webster Dictionary.

      You should look at the history of Noah Webster's dictionary:
      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webster%27s_Dictionary#Unabridged_edition_1864

      One of the important dates is 1864 .... the introduction Of the Unabridged Edition.
      This was revised again in 1879 and five years later in 1884: the date of your edition.
