Huge Anti -War Moratoriums were held on April 24, 1971
On West Coast 300,000 gathered in San Fran and another 750,000 in DC
to march against the Vietnam war.
In 1967 SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) formed the Student Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam (the MOBE)
Where was I during all this ?!! Oh,yeah. being drafted.
Plenty of pins protesting the Draft too, I doubt you wanted to go but Thank You for going I was lucky in a number of ways for the early years I was too young and just before becoming of age I was disabled (not by choice lol) and 4-f
I didn't go. Medical discharge on eve of going. Lucky me !!
Yup my 4-f was 2 weeks before going
I had already passed advanced inf. training & had been given my APO. for Nam. That was too damned close!! I went to Canada after discharge. Guess I read the instructions wrong & did it backwards. LOL!!
At least you could come back to states that way, TOO CLOSE INDEED.
I left the States in '73 because of my disgust over Nam & gov't. actions.
