This is what I think is an original ss coke bottle label from between 1917 and 1919. A late 1960's reproduction label has straight uniform lines, this has broken/ dotted lines behind the logo. Repros are printed on heavy, stock paper. This paper is almost see through and feels like newspaper. Plus, reproductions have asa candler's signature, this one had chas h candler's signature.

Charles took over for a short period in the late teens, after Asa sold the company. Until a few years ago, these Chas labels were rare and never appeared. Many of the original Asa labels have shown up over the years, because of the clearing out of bottling plants in the 7o's when they were found in quantity. While this may be an original, (the description is right for an original) I know someone had to have reproduced a bunch of these around 1999 or so.

earlycoke, do you have any more information on the 1999 repro's? This label, when out of the case, it feels like aged paper, you know like when you feel a old document? When I look at the label up close, the details are very fine and settle, plus close to the blue borders, and can see smudgeing. Were these lithographed or Printed using an engraved plate/ rubber stamp? Becasue I can kinda see that this mustve been printed/ stamped in black then blue. But I just need specific details and mistakes about the re prints from 1999 to see if this label has it.

I think these are original, and very scarce. It is true that some have turned up in some old bottling plant attics, so they are not as rare as they once were, but I don't know of any "repos" of this type. It is interesting that the earlier labels advertised "61/2 FL OZ", but these dropped it back to "6" (like the hobble-skirts). Of course these were rendered useless by the hobble-skirt in 1917, so more might be found....
