what kind of replica car is this???

My father found this car in a virginia junkyard .Sometime in the late 60s or early 70s .It had a full frame with wheels appeared gas operated had a driveshaft and differintial he rebuilt it use a mini bike engine .So that me and my kid brother could drive it around parking lots in the seventys.To this date I have not found out what it is .any ideas would be very helpful believe it was built in 40s or 50s.My father told me once that he saw one just like it on the show The Little Rascals but I dont know for sure.I would love to find out what this thing is .
