    Found buried, probably on what used to be farmland in rural area outside metro Detroit, MI. The spike is about 6" long. Looks to be hand-forged and pounded, not factory-produced.

      Objects similar to this were used to drag logs. The "bit" was pounded into the log near one end and a chain was attached and pulled by a horse or mule.
