This button was found in grandmother's huge array of buttons. This one has 7 other matching and were in separate bags .various other ones of all shapes sizes and materials.alot were packaged individually. This one just seemed odd. I think it's plastic but after looking at various buttons not sure now. It is like a burnt reddish brown and the tip of loops on top are cream in color...please help identify.

That's a beautiful button! I don't know much about buttons, but someone else will come along and be able to help you.

Looks like extruded celluloid to me. The fact that it was packaged separately supports it being celluloid as well. Celluloid degrades easily and during that process can damage other buttons near or in contact with it. Especially metals, causes them to corrode.

Lots of information on line teaching you how to display buttons safely.
As far as valuation, I research mine online at ebay, etc. to find the going rate.
