Got at garage sale years ago at a time I was gathering items found interesting. Have no idea what used for except medicine. Year on bottom with numbers and symbols. Tried to identify, couldn't find a match. Want to know what they were used for they are stamped with 1845, both of them. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Pic 4: It's too blurry, I'm afraid, to read the number, but <(I)> began removing the 'wings' in the 1950s, and by 1960 had almost entirely eradicated them. So (I) is late '50s on. I think it's a 4, so probably 1964.
