I was hoping someone could help me with some information on my grandfathers USN officer sword. Attached is a picture of the Sword, Sheath, and Scabbard. My grandfather was in the Navy, active duty, from 1942 - 1962. The sword has markings right above the handle on the blade that read "Made in USA". There are" USN" markings on the handle and midway up on the blade. On the other side of the sheath ( I can take a picture if you want ) is the number 46 and directly below the number 46 is the number 2.
Can you please give me any information on this sword and the meanings of the inscribing's ? What year is it from ? Would he have received this out of OTS ( he was a 90 day wonder ). Also, its potential worth in current condition ?
