This is a third post that is a follow up to comments and interest from @Windwalker about rifle scopes. As background, for the past several years I have been photographing a variety of early rifles and historically interesting parts for my son who was a Marine (having deployed in Fallujah as a sniper squad member and returned unharmed).

While doing the photography, and my son explaining the background and history, I came to see a subtle industrial beauty and personality that you wouldn’t expect. Anyhow, I hope some of you find this as interesting as I do.

There isn’t much to say about this Redfield 1” tube, 3x-9x scope other than it having serial number F57442 and a near mint condition original greenish colored anodizing. These Redfield scopes have a unique reticle that includes a ‘tombstone’ to track distance. My son is meticulously cataloging these "greenies" and probably has one of the largest collections around. They are really interesting.

Hey WW, in regards to the total number of scopes, I have taken pictures of about 18 total (including some mounted). In regards to Redfield scopes, there are 6 'greenies', 2 wide-fields (very rare), 1 black finish 1" tube, and a very cool "International Match" sight mounted on a Winchester model 52--22L rifle. There might be a couple more Redfield 'greenies' I haven't yet photographed. The rest are a mix of other makers and some really rare stuff.

I'll ask my son if he has favorite(s), but I suspect each is important for a variety of reasons.
