    Came out of a trunk of the estate of a collector. Claim of being from the Plains. Was bought in Shipshewana Indiana at an auction of Civil war era collection many high end items.

      It's a contemporary import from Pakistan, made from palm fiber, with designs supposedly influenced by American Indian baskets. Decorative only, and widely available on line and in gift shops throughout the Southwest.
