Vintage Lennox Cobra Bag in Army Navy Box

This is an old handbag of my Great Aunt's that was passed down to me. I'm not looking to sell, just hoping to gain a little information. I believe that the bag is probably somewhere around the 1940's era and is snakeskin (per the "cobra" on marking on the box). I was wondering mainly about the box. I thought the Army Navy marking was interesting. Would this have been purchased in a military store perhaps? Any thoughts on the bag or the purchase would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot :)
