This display features a genuine artifact from one of the greatest
disasters in history. This item was aboard the R.M.S. Titanic on
its maiden voyage.
On April 15, 1912, this item, along with the Titanic, sank to the
bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. For the next 82 years, this
item laid in the sand on the ocean floor along with the remains of
the Titanic.
Discovered in 1994, this small item, a piece of black coal, was given
Official Titanic Artifact Number 94/0036. Today, it still sits in sand,
inside a vintage silver sugar bowl that was used in the production of
the hit 1997 Motion Picture, 'Titanic'. A true piece of world history.
Also included in this display are the following:
A vintage Gold Baby Ring designed and made by Engelhart C. Ostby,
a noted jeweler during the early 1900's, who lost his life on the Titanic.
A group of authentic coins, half from Britain and half from the United
States, all dated '1912'.
And, two vintage Liqueur Glasses and a unique pair of Scissors
that belonged to Edward J. Smith, Captain of the Titanic, who also
lost his life during the maiden voyage.
