I inherited this clock from my Grandmother's estate back in 1991. It was painted black with a thick white paint underneath. The spring was broken so I had a clock repair man fix it. I stripped it to bare wood and added Tunge Oil to all wood surfaces. The glass was broken with no decal so I put a new piece of glass in it and had the original decal sandblasted into the glass. Works great. Grandma is proud!
