I picked up these figurines at an estate yard sale about 15 years ago and thought they were unique looking. I've wondered about their history from time to time. I believe they are chalkware as they are somewhat fragile. Any info - i.e. age, possible maker, value - would be welcome. Thanks.

I just bought the larger of the two deer, from a collector of Carnival chalk ware. he was downsizing and selling some of his collection. I wish I had asked him more questions. he did say it was 30's to 40's. Mine has a lot of pocks, which i like...adds so much character, but he felt that the little deer I bought was actually part of the ringtoss and not actually a prize. I would love info on this piece too.

Oh mine is more matt finished than the glossy that is on yours. Just noticing.

Hi. Actually, mine are more of a matt finish as well - I think it was just the way the light was reflecting. Does yours look identical to these? So, they were actually carnival prizes. Very cool. Thanks!
