We've been told this could be an old train depot desk or a plantation desk from the mid-South area from around 1860-1880.

The desk is made of walnut and it has the original leather desk inlay. It is 64-1/2" tall, 32" deep, and 50-1/2" wide. The desk hutch easily separates from the base. The lockable doors open to reveal many unique storage compartments, plus there is a semi-hidden lockable storage compartment on the left side of the desk, too!

This desk must have lots of history, but it has been difficult to collect reliable information. If anyone DOES know what this desk may have been used for, or its' actual date - we'd love to know! We've enjoyed the desk, but have always wished we knew more about it.

The desk obviously shows signs of daily use, but is in reasonably good shape despite its' age! Anyone have thoughts or comments?

I fear you may never know. It is such a cool piece it doesn't really matter. Several businesses could have used this. It could have even been for a home. Would need the name of the business on it to add to the value ie ATSF.
