As I understand it, this doll belonged to my great-great-great aunt. As a young girl, she suffered from polio and her parents bought her dolls if she was good when she would go to see the doctors.

The doll's head and hands are bisque, the head and shoulders are a single piece. Her eyes are meant to open and close as you lay her down, but they don't work quite right. She has eyelashes attached to the glass eyes, which are blue in color. Her mouth is slightly open, showing her small teeth. (Which is absolutely the stuff of nightmares, if you ask me.)

The body, made with kid leather, is articulated with pins. She is wearing red shoes and stockings. I'm not sure if the dress is original, but I know the shoes, stockings, hat, and hair all are.

The only marking I can find on her is on her shoulders. It's the word "Germany" laying over a circle inside which are the numbers "15/0".

The makers name or mold number or logo is higher on doll or under leather. The 15 1/2 is just a size number . She is German doll from around 1920's or there abouts . She has a typical dolly face so no real characteristics to point to a company that made her . Open her dress and look above Germany or either side of number ok . She looks a lot like another Armand doll maybe you will see a A and M on either side of number in circle

I checked under her hair, inside the head (the glue has dried out and the hair cap lifts away), on the arms, under the shoes, and then cut the thread that held the dress closed and looked around the markings I mentioned earlier, but there are no other markings anywhere on the doll.

If it has a name it is under leather on back but don't look . In our shop and museum we would pull back glued leather if it was important on a high end Bisque doll to see maker . Your doll is not high quality and was not a expensive doll when new , She is special because of her history though and I love the story of how she acquired the dolls . I would not worry about maker :-) Many dolls were not marked and sometimes we can not say for sure who did them .
