    I was curious to it's origins and wondered if this lamp was made in this form originally or if it was altered at some point. It looks bronze to me but is slightly magnetic, so it must not be. I cannot find any markings. It weighs about 15 pounds. The shade looks much newer than the lamp itself.

      It's meant to look like an antique lamp. Some lamps like whale oil lamps often came with tools to care for the wick, hanging from them for convenience sake.
