    I need help finding out what this is.....been told a lock, fastener for fence, u bolt for horse drawn carriage etc. my son found it in a plowed field.its about 6 inches long.

      I keep coming back hoping somebody will have some input. I see what it can do but can't imagine how it would be used. If it was found in a field, far from any boundary (road, building, etc.) it seems likely that it fell off some kind of implement. Have you got it apart yet? Does the shackle adjust by somehow locking into one of the various sets of holes?
