has a little metal tag inside saying northern furniture. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Is it rare? valuable? what year was it likely made? I've searched all over the web and can't find anything resembling it.
    Thank you

I have this same piece! I hope you post again if you find more information, because I don't know anything about it either. I thought the knobs on mine weren't original but I see yours has the same ones.

Your piece looks mid-50's to my eyes. The embellishments that appear to be carved, are most likely glued on.

Also, it may be that it's made up of two separate pieces.

We're not an appraisal site, so can't offer information on prices.

It looks later 30's more definitely. Its a beautiful piece but if you look at old catalogs it does not really represent the 50's at all. The detail of the piece is very strong ! Gorgeous !

I see in the old T. Eaton catalog of 1935, which I own, very similar pieces, but not this exact one !~

I've been researching R-way Furniture and Northern Furniture - a short history:

      https://www.justcollecting.com/miscellania/r-way-furniture-company

PhilDMorris, I very much admire your knowledge, and fine collection of art deco pieces as well as other antiquities. This piece is very dark compared to much of the 30's furniture, also as I said before the decoration doesn't say 'deco' to me. But please feel free to correct me.

A piece of the arc moulding on the top drawer is missing - which really is neither here nor there.

Gillian the link you provided is not based on actual 30's pieces nor is the style anything like suzys picture, the link is not a good one for pics. The 30's furniture in catalogs is all very dark like this piece. Your research on the internet is too new and a lot of pictures on images does not show most of the styles in books or ACTUAL photographs in 1930's catalogs. I would never be able to beat the information in books and actual 1930's catalogs such as 30's, 40's, and 1950,s which I own, doing research only on the internet is a poor comparison to actual catalogs, they can never be beat !!~

Also Gillians first link only shows a 1950's piece, which is lighter leaving the darker walnut style of the 30's out of the question. Also on internet they say conflicting things about the dates of pieces.
