old LAKESIDE chisel with wood and leather handle

This old 1/4" chisel has the word LAKESIDE stamped on one side. I think it is intended for use by a woodcarver (tapping it with a mallet) due to the way the handle is made with several leather pieces fitted around its end. It is about 12-1/2" long, and I know nothing more about it...? :-)
