I am trying to determine how old this sign is. It was produced by the Fort Pitt Steel Casting Co., which operated from early 1900s into the 1980s, primarily making industrial valves and the like. It may be aluminum, although it feels heavier (more dense) than that. Is it the real deal, or is it a fantasy item?

I like the sign no matter if it's real or fantasy.

It might be real... the quality of the cast iron, letters, and the "pat applied for" is a good sign this might be real.
