Trying to identify this item -- is it an elaborate bottle topper, as the clear rectangle piece appears to be, or is it a dish?

Can you fit an old fashioned box of matches over the clear area?

It would then be a smoking accessory. The dish holds the used matches.

The clear rectangle is 5/8" thick by 1 + 3/8 long. It's too big for any match box that I have in my home. Boy, that's an interesting idea though!

Well, vetraio50, now that I've searched online, I think you're a genius! I found a red glass dish that looks extremely similar on the sold portion of Ebay and you were right!
