I need information about this pin I found today. I'm not sure but I think it could be from the civil war era as I also found a bullet type projectile too. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It is not that old. Your insignia looks to date from the 1930s- early WW2.

It is a collar branch insignia for the US Army Coast Artillery Corps. The Coast Artillery Corps was established in the very early 20th century and continued until just after WW2.

As the name suggests the focus of the Coast Artillery Corps was coastal security from forts with fixed guns.
