This is one clean radio. Believe me I spent several hours cleaning it. The knobs were so dirty i thought someone had put brown ones on it, and the white face wasn't much better. I had to put a couple tubes in it and replace the filter caps, but it was worth it. This is as fine a radio as i've ever had. The sound is pretty smooth for a small speaker, loud too. Or maybe I'm just gettin old.
These radios have a huge ferrite bar antenna. Very good for AM .
Your Zenith looks fantastic and the model number H 725 will send me back to my notes. I thought Zenith had issued the same basic radio in 723 or 724 only with two different chassis . Do you know of how many different colors were issued ?
You are correct about the H prefix as a 723 and 724, as well as the 725, which were all manufactured in 1951 and 1952. This style radio was also produced in 1956 with a U prefix. Also in 1956 there is a Y-723 and a Y-724. These had a knob on the right side that controlled the tone. The are still very popular. As far as color? I've seen a gray one and a green one that I think were factory colors.
