      It might have been used to hold maps, drafting drawings etc. The dimensions of the drawers might indicate its use. I've seen something like it in old drafting businesses.

      Lots of odd ornamentation on this one, which sends up a warning to me.

      Can you add some photos of the drawer joint, inside where the pulls are, and the back of the item.
