Gifted by a friend...this brass ruler is a beauty. With 50 cm length, 1 kg weight, and half a cm thick, it has very markings...On one end it has makers mark (M.I.O & IOF, Calcutta, 1944).
M.I.O. means Mathematical instruments office and I.O.F Means Indian ordinance factory which used to produce instruments for British army during second world war.
