FOUND THIS ITEM AT A YARD SALE, SHOWED IT TO A FEW PEOPLE AND THEY BELIEVE IT IS AUTHENTIC. CANT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT COULD BE ONE OF A KIND .PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN.
    IT IS SILVER.
THE DATE SHOWS HITLERS BIRTHDAY, I DO THING SS THE FLAK RGT WAS AT HIS EAGLES NEST.(BERCHTESGADEN ) I THINK IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A PRESENTATION FOR HIS BIRTHDAY . NOT SURE, OR IT COULD BE A FAKE, BUT I DONT THINK ANYONE WOULD REPRO THIS ITEM IN SILVER ,NOT SURE. ITS HEAVY AND THE EAGLE IS CORRECT, AND SOLDERED, ITS NOT SCREWED ON. THE HANDLE IS ALSO GOTHIC, AND THE WRITING IS IN THE RIGHT SCRIPT. IF ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT IT , PLEASE HELP ME IDENTIFY IT.

Ron, contact SoldUSA in Matthews, NC and ask to speak with David. He is a fountain of information about German wartime collectibles.

Hello, Is there a silver content number anywhere on the tankard? I just saw one on ioffer.com, and it looks identical to yours, even the wear patterns, is this yours? My gut feeling is that this is a faked piece, for anything SS or Hitler related would come with a super high price. The engraving looks good, but a good engraver could do this script. I would think if this were an original piece the solder job would be much cleaner. I have seen many fakes, especially when it comes to engraved personal items since they would be one of a kind. All you need is an old cigarette case, goblet, tankard, and a good engraver, and you can turn it into whatever you want it to be. Many of these pieces come from eastern Europe. I hope I am wrong, but I just wanted to give my input. Please keep us posted as to the originality of the piece.
