The use of the P mint mark on quarters started in 1980. A die crack would make sense.
Definitely a cud, looks like an 80s style.
I realize that you posted about your quarter 3 years ago, but I just saw it. I don't know if it makes it more or less valuable, but I have a quarter that is identical to yours.
